splashes, covers, pinups, posters, and paintings by Jim Lee.

What the fuck? How is his art now so terrible and inorganic then?

There’s nothing ground breaking in really any of it. He looks like every other comic book artist from the 90s, he’s just better at it. He draws just like Rob Liefeld, but he’s better at it. Jim Lee is a copy of a copy of a copy of a xerox.

Where Jim really shines is in licensing art. All of these pinups are awesome. But make no mistake: They are pinups. Jim is a pinup artist. He does not tell stories with his comics. He just draws stuff that looks cool if you paste it on your wall. There is a difference between looking cool and being a good comic book.

"Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith" looked really cool. It was not a good movie though. "Transformers: Age of Extinction" looks really cool, but the story is about as paper-thin as it gets.

Jim Lee is to comics what Michael Bay is to movies. Seriously.

That being said, he is great at doing pinups. And, more than anything, comics are a community. You can like Jim Lee all you want, but I vehemently disagree. However, if I simply refused to acknowledge his vast influence on comics, I’d be kind of a moron.

I don’t have to like Jim Lee to appreciate that he has his fans for a reason. I posted some of those reasons as the pinups you see above.
